Actor Chad Lowe & Family Confirm Death of Daughter Fiona, 13

Chad Lowe and his family shared a devastating announcement that has left fans heartbroken. The actor and his wife Kim Painter confirmed the passing of their youngest daughter in an emotional statement.

Chad Lowe and Kim Painter confirmed the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, in a statement shared with PEOPLE on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The family described Fiona as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.” They also added, “She was the light of our lives.”
In their full statement, the family said, “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.” They further shared, “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents.” Additionally, the statement included information about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for those struggling with mental health.
Meanwhile, Lowe, 58, and Painter, 52, had welcomed Fiona on Nov. 16, 2012. She was the middle child of their three daughters. Her older sister Mabel Painter is 17, while her younger sister Nixie Barbara is 10.

Earlier in 2025, Chad celebrated Fiona’s entry into her teenage years with an Instagram post. He captioned a photo of her, “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” He then added, “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
However, her birthday followed a difficult period for the family after the Pacific Palisades Fire. The blaze had destroyed their family home in early 2025. Subsequently, Chad shared photos of his daughters visiting the remains of the house where they grew up.
He wrote at the time, “Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back.” He also praised their strength, calling their handling of the experience “nothing short of remarkable.” Furthermore, he added, “Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
Notably, Chad is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, 62. The family asked for prayers and privacy during this difficult time.
