Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, have announced the tragic death of their teenage daughter.
The 58-year-old actor, brother of Rob Lowe, 62, shared the news of Fiona Harper Lowe's passing on Tuesday, September 29, saying, "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona." Chad and Kim, 52, remembered the 13-year-old as a smart, loving and creative teen, describing her as "the light of our lives."
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents," the statement said. "In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time." The statement concluded by urging people to reach out for help if they are struggling with their mental health.

Fiona's dad, Chad, is an actor, director, and producer best known for his Emmy-winning role in Life Goes On and for portraying Byron Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars. He is the younger brother of fellow actor Rob. The brothers grew up in Ohio and later Malibu, alongside childhood friends like Charlie Sheen, 61, and Sean Penn, 66.
He has been married to casting director Kim since 2019. Together they have three daughters - Mabel, 17, the late Fiona, and Nixie, 10. He was previously married to Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank, 52, from 1997 to 2007.

In 1993, Chad won a Primetime Emmy Award for his groundbreaking portrayal of Jesse McKenna, a young man living with HIV, in Life Goes On. In addition to his Pretty Little Liars role, he also appeared in TV shows including Melrose Place, 24, ER, Supergirl and 9-1-1: Lone Star.
Chad often shared content with his wife and children on social media, even celebrating Fiona on her birthday last year with photo. "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!" Chad penned in the caption of the November 2025 post. "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
In February 2025, he posted a photo of his three daughters holding each other while they viewed the aftermath of their Los Angeles home following it being destroyed in the Palisades Fire in January of that year. After news of Fiona's death emerged, many fans took to X to mourn the tragedy, with one writing, "Omg, how devastating."

Another said, "This is absolutely terrible. I'm keeping the Lowe family in my thoughts tonight. RIP Fiona." A third said, "My heart breaks for precious Fiona and the unimaginable pain her family is going through.
"We never know what someone is secretly fighting. At just 13, she had so much life ahead. Holding Chad Lowe and his family close in my prayers tonight."
Another fan said, "Thirteen is far too young. Rest in peace, Fiona. Praying for peace and privacy for the Lowe family as they grieve the loss of their light."
