Amanda Seyfried once found herself in Val Kilmer's pool with two Mean Girls costars

"My 20s were ridiculous. I found myself at many places," she told GQ of her first few years in Hollywood

Still, Seyfried made sure to set some boundaries so she could always get home safely

Amanda Seyfried loves a good party, especially when she was first getting her start in Hollywood.

The Testament of Ann Lee actress, 40, opened up about her adventurous early years in Hollywood, including a run-in or two with some of the industry's brightest stars. In British GQ's cover story for its summer issue, Seyfried recalled one night she spent partying with two of her Mean Girls costars that led somewhere excitingly unexpected.

"Did I find myself at Val Kilmer's house one night at 1 a.m. with Daniel Franzese and Jonathan Bennett?" she mused of her Mean Girls costars, who played Damien and Aaron, respectively. "Did I find myself there with them in the pool?"

She continued, "I was 18 and I had just moved to LA and we had gone to a screening of Reefer Madness. I was at Val Kilmer's house — I don't even remember meeting him, but I was at his house."

Seyfried admitted she enjoyed a good party, especially in her early adulthood as she was securing roles in beloved films like Mamma Mia!, Jennifer's Body and Dear John. "My 20s were ridiculous. I found myself at many places," she said.

As rowdy as she got, Seyfried said, she still made sure to set boundaries for herself to ensure her safety. She recalled one night at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont in which she "could have done cocaine for the first time," but she decided against it because she was "scared" of the outcome.

"And so there was a limit to how much partying I was going to do, because I only wanted to be so drunk that I could [still] get myself home," she said.

The actress previously opened up to PEOPLE about another wild night early in her career: the famous 2007 Mamma Mia! wrap party, where Seyfried got drunk with her grandmother, she said.

"That was 18 years ago, I can't even do the math. But that wrap party specifically, I was drunk. Everybody was," she told PEOPLE in March 2025. "My grandmother was at that wrap party and she was slightly drunk. She and my mom were there visiting."
