Even Anne Hathaway isn't immune to a fashion flub.
While doing press for her upcoming film, The Odyssey, in New York City on Tuesday, June 30, the actress, 43, showed off her baby bump in a red peplum scoop neck jumpsuit. She accessorized the look with a gold necklace and dark sunglasses.
After several articles speculated that Hathaway was wearing the ensemble backwards, she took to Instagram to poke fun at the apparent mishap. A Reel posted on Wednesday, July 1 spliced together screenshots of various articles before Hathaway appeared in another red look saying, "I did? I did ... I did."
Per Hathaway's stylist, Erin Walsh, the red peplum look is from the fashion label Ashlyn New York's Spring/Summer 2026 collection. On the runway, the outfit appears with a high neck in the front, indicating that Hathaway did indeed wear it backwards during her N.Y.C. outing.

Fans are commending Hathaway for owning the mistake, with many praising her for making the look her own. "Backward is the new forward ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," one fan wrote on her Instagram post.
"As long as you were comfortable it doesn't matter!! ❤️," another shared, while a third wrote, "THAT'S what makes you a fashion icon 👏👏👏"
The previous day, Hathaway kicked off The Odyssey press tour in N.Y.C. wearing an all-black ensemble, which she paired with black-and-white L'Agence heels and a Dior bag.
One snap showed the actress placing one hand on her baby bump as she looked down and smiled. She held a copy of Sarah J. Maas' fantasy romance, Crescent City, in her other arm.

The Devil Wears Prada star is currently expecting her third baby with husband Adam Shulman.
She shared the pregnancy news in a video on her Instagram on Friday, June 19. In the clip, she wore a flowy white dress as she walked into the frame with her arms in front of her stomach.
As the song "Baby I'm Yours" by Barbara Lewis played, Hathaway dropped her arms to reveal her growing bump. She smiled, hugged her stomach, and ran out of frame. "x Baby, I'm yours x," she captioned the post.
A rep for Hathaway didn't immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment at the time.
Earlier this month, an insider told PEOPLE that Hathaway is "focused on family" as she gears up to become a mom of three. Hathaway and her husband are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.
"She's grateful for where she is in her career and for the opportunity to be part of a film that means so much to so many people," the exclusive source told PEOPLE. "Complaining just isn't Anne. She approaches things with gratitude and professionalism, and that's exactly how she handled the press tour."
"Right now, she's focused on family and enjoying a little downtime," added the source, noting her upcoming releases of The Odyssey and this fall's Verity.
