The Devil Wears Prada 2 is filled with many memorable fashion looks — but star Anne Hathaway says she was bummed to find out that one particular outfit didn't make the final cut.
While speaking with media, including PEOPLE, at the movie's European premiere in London on April 22, the actress, 43, revealed that her favorite look worn by her character, Andy Sachs, was "a Phoebe Philo T-shirt, train thing."
"I don't know, it was a garment, more than anything else," she continued as she attempted to describe it. "But I loved it so much."
"And then I said that it was my favorite outfit in the film, and [director] David [Frankel] called me — I hadn't seen the film yet — and he's like, 'It's gone,' " Hathaway, PEOPLE's 2026 World's Most Beautiful cover star, recalled. "And I was like, 'Well, maybe it was good that the paparazzi were there.' "

Hathaway was photographed wearing the Phoebe Philo ensemble while filming for the movie in New York City in July 2025. The look included a white T-shirt with a flowing train in the back, white cropped pants and white pointy-toe shoes to match, paired with black sunglasses, a black shoulder bag and a chunky statement necklace.
At the London premiere, the Idea of You actress also spoke to PEOPLE exclusively about how both she and her Devil Wears Prada character have evolved since the original 2006 film.
In the sequel, the story picks up 20 years later, with Andy now working as an award-winning investigative journalist in New York. But when the entire newsroom is abruptly laid off, she is hired by her former boss at Runway magazine, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep).

"Oh, I think we're both more confident, you know," Hathaway said of her and Andy's similar growth. "I think that, 20 years ago, Andy Sachs was really worried about getting it right, and she really wanted to please her boss, and now I think that she wants to be herself, and I relate to that."

While Hathaway's favorite movie look ended up on the cutting room floor, she did resurrect a standout outfit from the first film to close out the press tour. On April 29, she stepped out to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon wearing the kelly green, cheetah print-trimmed coat Andy wore in the 2006 movie.

She paired the striking coat with black oversized glasses in another nod to the original costume.
"Annie wanted to wrap the tour up with this nod to the film,” Hathaway's stylist, Erin Walsh, said of the rewear, per Vogue. “Since it was the last moment of the tour, it felt like such a special piece.”
Walsh said Hathaway actually bought the coat on auction. The garment was originally sourced by costume designer Patricia Field, who told Entertainment Weekly in 2016, "For me, the success of the clothing is not only that it looks good, but it has to tell the story. So when [Andy's] walking in these streets that are gray and gritty, she popped."
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in theaters now.
