Bryan Martin Is Ready to Leave His Past Behind with Upcoming Album “OD’in on a Dream”: ‘Last Trace of That Life’ (Exclusive)

Bryan Martin says welcoming son Pascal with fiancée Rosalind Ross put the Tennessee house fire into perspective

The country singer recently earned a triple platinum certification for his breakout hit “We Ride”

Martin’s album OD’in on a Dream arrives Oct. 30 and reflects on addiction, divorce and industry pressures

There is so much life for Bryan Martin to love at the moment—most of which comes from living life with his fiancée Rosalind Ross and their 6-month-old son Pascal.

“She’s actually feeding him a bottle right now here on the couch,” Martin, 38, tells PEOPLE from their farm in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. “I didn’t know this sort of love existed. I tried to find it a long time ago. I wouldn’t have stuck with the old for so long if I had known that I could find somebody who loves me for who I am. I got lucky.”

‘Lucky’ might just be an understatement, because amid the bliss of sobriety and new love, the multi-platinum country artist found himself flirting with tragedy just a few short months ago, when his house in Hampshire, Tennessee burned down.

“Four days after my baby was born, I get a call,” recalls Martin, who recently earned his first-ever RIAA triple platinum certification plaque for his breakout song “We Ride.” “I was in Los Angeles because Rose is a movie director and a writer and we were out there at her place and I was like, ‘Oh, Lord.’ Honestly, I was so thrilled about the baby and stuff that the house didn’t even really affect me, you know?”

That can happen when one is crazy in love.

“It scared me to death at first. I’ve never felt that before,” the Louisiana native admits of first meeting and falling for Ross, 36, an accomplished filmmaker and former longtime partner of Mel Gibson. “I definitely outkicked my coverage. Heck, I think I was on a whole other football field. I kicked it out of the stadium.”

Nevertheless, Martin has spent a lifetime looking for this sort of love, as the  singer/songwriter has endured his share of challenges, having dealt with everything from an addiction to painkillers to a suicide attempt when he was a teenager to occasional bouts with depression and anxiety.

“I haven’t had those feelings since I’ve met Rose,” Martin says of his past struggles with depression and anxiety. “For a long time, I was dragging bottom, but it was like, I didn’t realize that the bottom just kept getting lower.”

This ‘bottom’ and the painful repercussions of it now serve as the thread that binds the 13 tracks of Martin’s upcoming album OD’in on a Dream, which is set for release on Oct. 30.

“[This album] is about who I was, for sure,” says Martin of the project, which will include previously released tracks such as “Demons Don’t Sleep,” “Complex” and his current radio single “Tug O’ War.” “This is the last trace of that life that anybody will ever get from me.”

Still, the album has Martin confronting the demons left behind from divorce (he and ex-wife Bobbie Jo share four children together), addiction and the pressures of the music industry. “I think I relate to a lot of outlaws, because deep down, we’re just wounded individuals that are covering it up with a lot of tattoos,” he says. “I’m trying to get better every day. I’m not perfect by no means and I never will be, but I’m also accepting parts of myself that I never let myself accept until now.”

There have been other realizations too.

“For the longest time, I thought that the fame was the payoff, and then I realized that wasn’t nowhere close,” says Martin. “I never thought the payoff would be getting off the stage and getting home as fast as I could.”

Today, that home includes goats and a donkey. “This is something I’ve always dreamed of, but never dreamed I’d be able to get,” says Martin, who has toured with the likes of Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean and Chris Young since breaking into the country music scene back in 2023. “That back porch sitting and spending time with the ones you love and, and having something to look forward to every morning when you wake up, you know?”

And when the stings of past pain creep in, Martin now has someone to turn to. “The world will never know the version of me that Rose knows,” he says. “She knows the vulnerable and the falling apart at the seams and the putting it back together. She knows a side of me that I, for so long, wouldn’t let nobody see.”

He lets out a laugh, adding, “It’s been a great turn of events. I’m happy every day to wake up and just know that I’m getting to experience a better version of myself.”
