Charli XCX brought her signature edge to the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles. The singer arrived on the carpet in an all-black ensemble that balanced understated glamour with a characteristically daring twist. With custom Saint Laurent and plenty of skin on display, Charli made monochrome anything but boring.

For the occasion, Charli XCX wore a custom YSL look featuring a cropped black velvet top and matching floor-length skirt. The tiny sheer top immediately stood out thanks to a transparent panel stretching across the chest, with horizontal bands of fabric creating a striped effect over the otherwise see-through section.
The tiny top stopped well above Charli’s waist, leaving her entire midriff exposed. Its long sleeves added contrast to the abbreviated silhouette, while dramatic gathered velvet fabric around the arms created oversized volume. Long strips of black fabric trailed from the sleeves for an extra dose of movement.

Charli paired the top with a body-hugging black maxi skirt that sat daringly low on her hips. The sleek velvet design skimmed her figure and extended all the way to the floor, allowing the cropped proportions of the top to remain the focus.
The YSL ensemble was styled with jewelry from Fope. She stacked several silver-toned rings across both hands, including the brand’s Prima Flex’it and diamond pavé designs, as noted by Celeb Style Radar. This brought a subtle flash of sparkle to the otherwise completely black outfit. For glam, Charli wore her jet-black hair long and sleek with a center part, while smoky eye makeup complemented the dark palette. A nude lip and red manicure finished things off.
The recent appearance offered a distinctly minimalist yet daring take on red dressing, and the custom Saint Laurent look delivered plenty of drama without ignoring the singer’s effortlessly cool aesthetic.
