The Game of Thrones franchise’s first movie spinoff is officially heading to theaters.
Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest, directed by Owen Harris (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) and writer Beau Willimon (House of Cards), will be released through Warner Bros. Pictures on June 1, 2029.
Officially story details haven’t been revealed, but the title of the film points to Aegon I Targaryen, a.k.a. Aegon the Conqueror, who flew his forces on dragonback from Old Valyria to conquer and unite the kingdoms of Westeros.

The release date continues HBO’s mission of giving viewers at least one Game of Thrones project a year. 2027 will bring A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1, 2028 will bring the fourth and final season of House of the Dragon, and 2029 will give us the Aegon’s Conquest movie.
