Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner revealed she's shocked by Tomb Raider's advanced security measures.
The Lara Croft actress said the cast needs to use facial recognition technology to unlock Phoebe Waller-Bridge's scripts.
"It's intense," Turner said of the show, which also stars Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs.
The latest Lara Croft actress, Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner, has revealed that reading a script for the new live-action Tomb Raider series is as difficult as, uh, raiding a tomb!
In a new interview on The Julia Cunningham Show podcast, Turner spoke cryptically (pun intended) about production of Amazon's highly anticipated video game adaptation headed by Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge, replying, "I don't know" when Cunningham asked her to describe the show's sets and if cameras have rolled yet.
Turner then segued into discussing tight security measures protecting the Tomb Raider TV series, admitting, "It's crazier security than Game of Thrones. Yeah, it's crazy."
The entertainer said that "in order to access any scripts," there are "a million log-ins" and "the face recognition thing."

When Cunningham asked her to confirm that she meant the use of facial recognition technology to unlock screenplays, Turner replied, "Oh my god. I mean, it's like, it's intense!"
She later joked, "It's like raiding a tomb just getting to the scripts" for the TV show, which also stars Sigourney Weaver and Harry Potter alum Jason Isaacs.
Earlier in the interview, Turner looked ahead to a bright future in her role as Croft, the adventurer and gaming icon who was named by the BAFTA Game Awards' global poll as the most iconic video game character of all time in 2024, over the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog, Pikachu, and Mario.
"I mean, I feel really lucky to have signed on to Tomb Raider and to have, you know, the opportunity to play a character over a certain number of episodes and I love TV," Turner told Cunningham. "I love doing TV because you do get to develop and develop over potentially years and years, and so I feel really lucky to be able to have this opportunity and let's hope that it does go on for years and years."
She added that she loves working with Bridge, and texts her "all day long" and is "totally obsessed" with her as they prepare to tackle their version of the video game series that first launched in 1996 to massive global success and pop culture impact.
On Thursday, Amazon MGM unveiled a first look at Turner in character as Croft, with the new interpretation of the heroine harkening back to the gaming icon's look from the earlier video games released in the mid-late '90s.
Turner's version of Croft sports short shorts, pistol holsters, a teal tank top, a braided ponytail, and red-hued sunglasses, channeling a throwback iteration of Croft that's yet to be seen in any of the live-action adaptations thus far.
Amazon also recently announced that its TV series will include beloved characters from the video games, including Croft's butler, Winston (Bill Patterson), the explorer's uncle, Atlas DeMornay (Isaacs), and Croft's tech-savvy friend, Zip (Martin Bobb-Semple).
Alien star Weaver will play a new character named Evelyn Wallis, described in a press release as "a mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara's talents."
In the same release, Turner praised the series and expressed excitement over the role, saying, "I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!"

The Game of Thrones actress, 29, inherits the role of Croft from other actresses who've taken on the character in other media adaptations, ranging from Oscar winner Angelina Jolie in the blockbuster films Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and its sequel, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider — The Cradle of Life (2003), and Academy Award-winning star Alicia Vikander in 2018's Tomb Raider movie.
Vikander was rumored to reprise her role in another Tomb Raider film (reportedly written by Lovecraft Country developer Misha Green) following the global success of the 2018 project, though she's since walked back her hopes on the potential for a sequel.

"With the MGM and Amazon buyout, I have no clue. Now it's kind of politics," Vikander told Entertainment Weekly in 2022, referencing Amazon's multi-billion-dollar acquisition of MGM in March of that year. "I think Misha and I have been ready, so it's kind of in somebody else's hands, to be honest." (MGM had no comment at the time.)
