Hannah Berner revealed the results of an injection mishap after getting Dysport, an injectable neurotoxin, in her masseter muscles for TMJ

"I woke up last week and I can't smile," the comedian shared in a TikTok video

Berner previously shared her perspective on cosmetic treatments, including which she has yet to try

Hannah Berner is opening up about a recent cosmetic mishap.

In a TikTok video shared on Monday, June 30, the comedian and podcast host, 34, spoke about getting Dysport, an injectable neurotoxin, in her masseter muscles as a TMJ treatment.

"I woke up last week and I can't smile. This is me trying to smile," she says as her face morphs into a grimace.

Berner continues, "And look, I'm a comedian. Like, joy and laughter is my life. That's all I care about. We're gonna get through this, guys, we're gonna get through this. Pray for me. I've turned to religion. Stay safe out there in these streets."

In another video, the Giggly Squad host shared that this was her third treatment for TMJ."I went to a new place and they gave me 60 units of dysport on each side," she said via text over the clip. "I shouldn't have done it because now I can't smile. My face is stuck and it's been three weeks help me."

Neurotoxins (like Botox, Xeomin and Dysport) are sometimes used to treat TMJ disorders by temporarily relaxing overworked jaw muscles to relieve pain and help with teeth grinding, according to a recent study in the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation.

During a panel at the Byrdie Social Club event in New York in September 2025, Berner and her cohost Paige DeSorbo discussed cosmetic treatments they have and haven't tried.

Berner admitted that she's dabbled in some of the trends, including light therapy, but hasn't undergone a laser treatment yet.

"I don't look in the mirror a lot," she said. "Sometimes, you get in your head about stuff. It's like a comedy joke — if I listen to it too much, it stops being funny. If you look at yourself too much, you start being like, 'I hate that. I hate that,' so I always look at the mirror a little...then I envision myself as the hottest version of myself all day."

“Hannah has the best skin ever," DeSorbo, 33, said in the duo's joint cover story for Byrdie's The Muse Issue. "She's never done a skincare routine — definitely never done more than four steps. And I've never, in my almost 10 years of being friends with her, I've never once seen a pimple.”
