Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Bear season 5!

It's closing time for The Bear.

After five seasons, FX's Emmy-winning series has come to an end, with new chapters beginning for the staff of the rowdy restaurant.

The first seven episodes of the final season took place over the course of a single day and night, as a severe thunderstorm drove the workers of The Bear to a breaking point. “The urgency with getting through hour by hour, minute by minute is brilliantly portrayed this season,” star Liza Colón-Zayas told PEOPLE about the stressful singular day the characters are subjected to.

The series finale, titled "The Original Beef of Chicagoland," showed the aftermath of the chaotic night, including major changes for Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and the restaurant itself.

Here's everything to know about how The Bear ended and whether the restaurant — and its staff — survived the series finale.

Does The Bear restaurant stay open?

Yes, The Bear restaurant is still open — and successful — at the end of the series.

Not only is the dining establishment popular, it is revealed that The Bear has received two Michelin stars. In the final episode, Carmy finally answers a phone call from an unknown caller, who turns out to be Peter Clark (Gary Janetti) — the "Star Man" — who tells him about the Michelin stamp of approval.

Carmy delivers the good news to Sydney. While they don't know how to process it at first, the two friends later hug and cry in the dining area, knowing their hard work has finally paid off.

The lights are still on at The Bear, and The Beef — the sandwich window of the restaurant — will also live on as a franchise, operating out of ghost kitchens in the suburbs.

Does Carmy leave The Bear?

Yes, Carmy sticks to his decision to leave The Bear.

At the end of season 4, Carmy announced he was finally stepping away from the stressful culinary world. He continued working at The Bear in season 5, which largely took place over one day.

In the season 5 finale, Carmy's cousin, Stevie (John Mulaney), walks Carmy to a building downtown, dropping him off to meet with someone. The person is a woman named Sue (Bonnie Hunt), with whom Carmy is interviewing for an internship at an architectural firm.

“Even though it sucked,” Carmy tells his staff, “it was the most fun I’ve ever had.”

Carmy's final scene features him wearing his signature white shirt and blue apron, sitting in the office at the restaurant. He texts his late brother, Mikey, the message "All good," and smiles, seemingly happy with the decision to pursue a new path in life.

What happens to Sydney?

Sydney stays at The Bear, now the restaurant's head chef.

She has also become a star of the Chicago food scene after being featured in the newspaper in a story about the restaurant's two Michelin stars.

What happens to Richie?

Richie is invited to an international hospitality seminar in Japan. Despite his fear of flying, Richie decides to go.

Before he leaves, Richie brings his daughter, Eva, to The Bear and surprises her with a birthday celebration. The party also acts as a family reunion, featuring cameos from actors Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk, Josh Hartnett and more, who all previously appeared in the series.

The finale of The Bear ends with Richie sitting on the plane, waiting for it to take off. He nervously fidgets in his seat, before someone grabs his hand and holds it. His seatmate is revealed to be his coworker Jess (Sarah Ramos), who is accompanying him on the trip — and they seem to be taking their relationship to the next level.

What happens to the rest of The Bear staff?

Carmy is not the only one to depart The Bear staff. Luca (Will Poulter) returns to Copenhagen, leaving Marcus (Lionel Boyce) to run the restaurant's desserts and pastries department.

Meanwhile, Tina (Colón-Zayas) stays on as Sydney's chef de cuisine, while Natalie (Abby Elliott) continues as part-owner of The Bear alongside Sydney and Richie.

Other members of The Bear staff and family — including Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson), Uncle Jimmy (Oliver Platt), Neil Fak (Matty Matheson) and Ted Fak (Ricky Staffieri) — will be helping with the launch of The Beef ghost kitchens.
