4 Non Blondes treated fans to a major wave of nostalgia after the iconic rock band shared an unseen chapter from the 90s.
With renewed popularity and their hit song âWhatâs Up?â resurging among a younger generation, the four-member group is now revisiting its roots by opening the vault on a long-lost recording.
In a social media update on Sunday, 4 Non Blondes ended the year with a surprise video, giving fans a rare glimpse into a pivotal moment from their early years.
The Instagram post featured lead vocalist Linda Perry singing an unreleased song titled âSammy.â

Interestingly, âSammyâ was far more than just a song for Perry. The track carried deep personal meaning, telling the emotional story of a dog she was forced to give up when she could no longer afford to care for him.
Adding to its significance, that same companion was by her side when she wrote the bandâs breakout hit, âWhatâs Up?â
âFrom the vault. Linda recording âSammyâ during the second 4 Non Blondes album that never came out. A song about the dog she had to give up when she couldnât afford to keep him. Same dog who was in her room when she wrote Whatâs Up,â the caption reads.

The comment section quickly filled with admiration for the 60-year-old singerâs enduring talent and unmistakable voice, as fans praised Perry for sounding just as powerful decades later.
Moreover, others expressed disappointment that the bandâs second album never moved forward, calling it a missed opportunity in â90s rock history.
âI love your voice...it's a shame that no further albums were released!â one wrote.
âWow, great song, what a voice!!! I want to hear the whole song, but I canât find it,â a commenter said.
âThis is wonderful. I would love to see these sessions released at some point as well,â a fan echoed.
âBeen waiting for you guys to come together, for all of these years,â a follower said, referring to the bandâs upcoming tour.
Launched in 1989 in San Francisco, 4 Non Blondes made their breakthrough in the early â90s after releasing their debut and sole album, Bigger, Better, Faster, More!
It was the second single from the album, âWhat's Up?â that catapulted the band to international fame, becoming an enduring anthem of the decade and cementing their name in rock history.
However, they are prepping for a big comeback with an upcoming album, their first in over 30 years.
