Jennifer Lopez ditched her signature glam for a makeup-free appearance as she got vulnerable about becoming an empty nester. The “On the Floor” singer, whose 18-year-old twins Oskar and Max recently went to college, admitted she’s struggling with her “scary” new chapter—and revealed what she’s doing to stay “sane” amid the major change.

Wishing her followers a “beautiful morning,” a fresh-faced Lopez showed off her glowing complexion as she began her skincare routine. “I was thinking about routines because I’m sure a lot of people are going through this out there. My kids are going away to college,” she mused as she lathered serums and creams on her face.

Lopez—who wore a key lime green silk slip trimmed with sheer white lace on the plunging neckline and along her sides—looked back at her summer travels with her children and how her “routines” have grounded her during her action-packed days as well as her quieter life now that Oskar and Max are no longer living at home.

“I was thinking about this summer, and what a great summer it was. We got to go away together. I spent as much time with them as I could. And the travel was crazy, and it wreaks havoc on your skin. It wreaks havoc on your body. But those routines really keep you going,” she said, adding, “And I think when they go away, and I’m sitting here, being an empty nester, and crying, and thinking about them, and looking at baby pictures of them, and all that stuff, these routines are the things that are gonna keep me kind of sane

Lopez, who wore her waist-length caramel-highlighted brown hair in a sleek middle-parted style, explained, “You know, working out, doing my skincare routine, caring for myself, with the newfound kind of space that’s in your life. You know, you’re so excited for them to step into this new, you know, era of their life, but it’s also, we have to remember, it’s a new era of our lives, too.”

The Office Romance actress admitted that becoming an empty nester has been a “scary” new chapter, but also a time to reevaluate her life. “Maybe it’s time to revive some old dreams that you had, something you put aside during the time that you were raising your kids or things you didn’t have time for, even if it’s just reading books or anything like that. That you start these new rituals and routines that can fill the space for when they go away, and they’re not down the hall anymore,” Lopez said, tearing up.

She concluded, “It’s a scary time. It’s a transitional time. a new beginning, in a lot of ways. For them, certainly but also for you. So don’t forget that. Keep your routines going. Stay hydrated. Stay happy, stay joyful, stay productive.”
