John Stamos, the beloved General Hospital star, recently embarked on a bold new journey by getting his first tattoo and etching it forever on his skin. At 62, the Full House alum has finally unveiled his meaningful tattoo to the world, making a bold statement. As the ink settles, fans are curious to know what the story is behind the beautiful, permanent mark.

John Stamos debuts his first tattoo on Instagram

John Stamos recently unveiled his very first tattoo on social media, sharing a striking image that left his fans in awe. On March 17, Stamos took to Instagram to share his thrilling tattoo debut. He treated his followers to a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his first-ever ink session, courtesy of artist Oscar Jordan Urbina.

The General Hospital star opted for a powerful image of the Cyrus Edwin Dallin statue, Appeal to the Great Spirit, a piece that resonates deeply with him. Interestingly, the early-1900s masterpiece also inspired the iconic logo for The Beach Boys’ record label, Brother Records, founded in 1966.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art describes the work as a Native American man on horseback connecting with a “divine power.” Stamos shared the video, explaining that the image embodied the rock band’s spirit — “artistic freedom and trust in a higher creative path.”

“Lately I’ve felt that same pull in my own life,” the caption further read. “Stepping into this new chapter of my career, taking bigger swings, following the work wherever it leads. The timing felt right, so I put that Great Spirit on my arm as a reminder to stay brave, stay open, and trust the direction the art is taking me.”

Stamos ties to The Beach Boys run deep. He first jammed with the band on percussion back in July 1985. Three years later, they made a cameo on the second season of Full House, where D.J. wins concert tickets and has to choose between Danny, Joey, and Uncle Jesse (played by Stamos), the ultimate The Beach Boys superfan. Four decades on, Stamos is still jamming with The Beach Boys, joining their 2025 Sounds of Summer Tour.
