Prince Louis, 8, did not make his debut at Wimbledon this year despite being the same age his sibling were when they first attended.
Kate Middleton attended Day 14 of Wimbledon alongside Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 11.
During the tournament, Middleton revealed that Louis has dreams of attending Wimbledon and becoming a ball boy.
Prince Louis was noticeably absent when Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte attended Day 14 of Wimbledon on Sunday. According to Kate, however, the youngest royal is reportedly ready to hit the tennis court in an unexpected way.
On July 12, the royal family stepped out to enjoy the final day of the tennis tournament, taking a seat in the Royal Box alongside familiar faces like Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, and Ben Stiller. While Charlotte, 11, and George, who will turn 13 in just over a week, sat front row alongside their parents, Louis was nowhere to be seen.

To many fans’ surprise, the 8-year-old did not make his Wimbledon debut this year despite being the same age his siblings were when they attended their first Wimbledon tournaments. George made his first appearance at Wimbledon in 2022, just before his ninth birthday, and Charlotte first attended the tennis championship in 2023, when she was also 8 years old. George and Charlotte also share Kate’s passion for the sport outside of the Royal Box and regularly practice tennis.

Despite sitting out the family trip to Centre Court, George reportedly has big dreams of hitting the tennis court—more specifically, as a ball boy. Speaking with People after the tournament wrapped, ball girl Jenna Fontanilla revealed that she had spoken to Kate about Louis’s passion for tennis on Day 13 of Wimbledon.

“She told me about how Louis was asking her about how to become a ball boy, and we were talking about how much hard work it is to be on court and how we work alongside the ball kids, and it’s just so lovely,” Fontanilla said. According to People, a ball boy named Joel added that he also spoke with Kate. “[Louis] tries to practice the standing and staying serious like us,” the source said. “He tries to practice the stands and how we stand at the back of the court and next to the players.”
Louis’s dream to be a ball boy dates back to 2023, when Kate told PA News how upset Louis was to be missing the tournament, per People. Though the royal family has not made a statement regarding Louis’s absence at Wimbledon, it’s likely that the persistent U.K. heat wave may have influenced William and Kate’s decision to leave their youngest son at home.
