KATSEYE is opening up about the status of Manon Bannerman’s future with the group.
Manon, 24, announced in February that she’d be taking a “temporary hiatus” from KATSEYE in order to “focus on her health and wellbeing.”
In the months since, the girl group has forged ahead as a quintet, playing Coachella in April and announcing a new EP set for release in August.
In a new cover story for Allure, the group — Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae — made it clear that Manon is always welcome to return, but will have to do so in her own time.

“Because we did announce that it is about her well-being, it’s not our place or anybody else’s place to rush her,” Sophia, 23, said. “We want to give her all the time that she needs, all the space that she needs, and so we don’t want to make any assumptions, set anything in stone… She really deserves that and the door is always open.”
Sophia went on to say she understood why people were asking questions about Manon, but hoped that fans would continue to be supportive no matter what.
“We love her and the fans love her. The people love her. They love KATSEYE. If I was in their place, I would be asking too, and so we understand,” she said. “But what we can say is that we wish that you could just keep extending love and support and patience and all those things, because all of us deserve that. Anybody does.”

KATSEYE has been supportive of Manon’s decision to step back since day one, and in a group statement in February, wrote that they would remain “committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us.”

“The group will continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right,” they said in a statement.
Manon spoke out in April in a statement shared to Weverse, thanking fans for their love and support. The Swiss singer said that she’d had “positive conversations” with the group’s label HxG, though fans noticed that she’d removed mention of KATSEYE from her Instagram bio.
“I'm happy and I'm healthy. I'll share more soon,” she said. “Thank you for always being there for me.”
KATSEYE rose to fame in 2024 after forming the year prior on the reality competition series Dream Academy. Their early days were later released as the Netflix series Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE.
The group released their debut EP SIS (Soft Is Strong) in 2024, and have been nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.
