Kevin Jonas is celebrating his favorite parts of his 16-year-marriage with his latest song.
The crooner released his second solo song "Little Things" Friday to honor the aspects of his marriage to wife Danielle he loves the most.
"It's a great extension of my story with Danielle, it truly is," Jonas tells PEOPLE exclusively. "We have three big years ahead of us: we have a big birthday for her this year, a big birthday for me next year, and then our 20th wedding anniversary in 2029, which is an insane thing to think about."
The Jonas Brothers member, 38, released his first solo song "Changing" last year as a huge surprise to fans, and the warm reception inspired him to keep recording.
"I never expected to do more than just one, but here we are," he explains about crafting his own sound. "I've spent 20 years trying to figure out songs and music for myself. It just started to roll when we had kind of a template and we had a vision for what felt right. Iām really proud of it."

Jonas first met his wife in 2007 while the pair were on respective family vacations in the Bahamas, and he reveals that she is "in the DNA" of all his material.
"Danielle always inspires me when I'm in the writing room," he explains. "Everybody brings their own stories into the writing. Sometimes you can just imagine a scenario or put yourself somewhere telling a story, but for the most part, you take stories and you associate them to what you're doing."
Kevin went out of his way to make lyrics specific to his own relationship, right down to references to his wifeās jewelry.
"The ā24 karat gold,ā she only wears yellow gold, so that was part of it," he notes. "It's one of her things āshe says it's her skin tone ā so I literally had to switch out her wedding band at one point."
Beyond upgrading their wedding bands to gold for their 10th anniversary, he is now updating the matching tattoos they got of each otherās names. "I've got hers, she's got mine, and I'm actually having it removed and redone," he adds. "This was my first ever tattoo and it's just muddy, so I'm getting it redone."

That said, the singer points out how painful the process has been to replace the ink with a better version of his wifeās name on his finger.
"I just went through that first session ā not very enjoyable, to be honest with you," he says while giving props to one name who has famously had his own ink removed. "Pete Davidson, I'll give it to you."
Jonas was nervous about playing the romantic track for his wife, but admits itās always her opinion that matters the most. "I send her every song and she has a great pop ear," he says about trusting his partnerās gut instinct. "I was like, āBabe, this one's about youā and I kept it a secret, but she was very happy."
The couple have two daughters Alena, 12, and Valentina, 9, and Jonas points out that even a risquĆ© reference to "steaming up the shower" didnāt keep his kids from enjoying their dadās latest track.
"They loved it," he says. "They liked that it had more of a driving beat to it than āChanging.' The āsteaming up the showerā part⦠I don't think they understand the context totally, but I enjoyed that with my wife for sure."

One of the highlights of creating his own music has been sharing it with his own children.
"I felt really proud being able to share and perform āChangingā for the first time for them, and itās still incredible," he says with pride, also noting how much itās meant seeing the response from longtime fans. "They're singing louder than I am, which makes my day. So I'm really excited for people to hear this new song."
Jonas couldnāt be more grateful to have the support of his brothers as he pursues this first musical project of his own.
"It's actually so funny because I was like, 'Guys, are you cool if I play these new songs?'" he recalls about adding the tracks to the Brothersā current setlist. "Joe literally looks at me and goes, āOf course, we play 19 songs while you're backstage, do whatever you want.ā I'm like, āThat's incredible, thank you so much.'"
While 19 songs is an exaggeration, the eldest Jonas Brother admits he remains productive while his brothers take turns performing their own solo hits on stage.
"I actually love that time: I go backstage, go use the bathroom if I want to, FaceTime Danielle, typically check in with the kids," he explains. "And if we're in a good time zone, it's right about 9:30 when that happens, which means I can say goodnight to the girls, which is perfect. So it's my good night time for my kids."

Jonas Brothers remain on the road with their latest tour, next tackling a series of dates at Dolby Live in Las Vegas later this month. While the band remains busier than ever, including the August release of their Disney Channel film Camp Rock 3, Kevin uses as many days off as he can to spend time with his family at home in New Jersey.
He cites the rare date nights going for drives or recently getting to see The Devil Wears Prada 2 in a movie theater with Danielle that he looks forward to the most, and that his relationship remains stronger than ever.
"I'm more attracted to her today than I was yesterday and I'm more in love with her than I was yesterday," he describes the evolution of their relationship. "A lot of people get married early and can grow apart because they become new people. I think what was really cool is we both found out who we were as individuals while we were growing and just fell more and more in love with each other."

Danielle revealed her longtime battle with Lyme disease in 2025 and Jonas couldnāt be more proud of the strength his wife has shown through it all.
"You didn't see her out as much as people had been used to seeing her around because flying was just really difficult," he reflects on her journey towards getting better. "We both committed to being like, I have to do my day job, Jonas Brothers stuff, but then she needs to focus on being at home, getting well so that we can be getting back to normal."
Jonas notes that she is making progress and has found what works for her with the help of her medical team.
"Medicine's tough and it's not a 'one size fits all'⦠I was there for her by letting her not be there. That was important for her, and she is so much better now." He adds that it's Danielle's continued selflessness that always strikes him as a partner. "Her heart as a mom, as a wife, as a caretaker, she always puts everyone else first above herself always. She's always thinking about everyone else. It's great."

The strength of his relationship has inspired more writing and more songs. Jonas says nine are in the can so far, but heās not sure if a full solo EP or album are on the horizon. "I don't have any expectations about the music," he says about just enjoying the ride. "Luckily for me, I'm really, really happy that I get to just play what I want to play, make what I want to make, put out what I believe is true to me."
"I'm also just taking it one step at a time," he continues. "Music is tough, releasing music is hard, and I'm really happy that we have a great team that helps us make that happen. But really I'm making music that I can play live for our fans."
