The Los Angeles Lakers didn't have the best day on Sunday. Not only were they blown out by the Houston Rockets in Game 4 of their NBA playoff series, but the Purple and Gold also saw two of their players ejected during the contest.
Houston led by as many as 28 points, with Amen Thompson scoring 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting. He also recorded four rebounds, seven assists and one steal.
No Laker scored more than 20 points, with Deandre Ayton leading the team with 19. What really hurt L.A. was their 23 turnovers, which allowed the Rockets to score 30 points off those mistakes.
LeBron James had 10 points and nine assists, but he had the most turnovers among all Lakers with eight.

It didn't help the team that both Ayton and second-year forward Adou Thiero were ejected in separate instances during the game. Ayton was called for a Flagrant 2 foul and thrown out in the third quarter after he hit Alperen Sengun on the head with his forearm.
Meanwhile, Thiero was tossed with 1:11 remaining in the fourth quarter after he got entangled with Rockets guard Aaron Holiday while both players were positioning for a rebound.
After the game, James was naturally disappointed with their performance and what transpired during the showdown. However, he couldn't hide his anger over one particular moment: Thiero's ejection.

According to James, Thiero's ejection "made no sense."
"I'm more [expletive] about them kicking Adou out," James stated. "That was uncalled for and it made no sense. Think that's his first time he's ever been thrown out of a game in his life. I don't think that was warranted."
For what it's worth, Lakers head coach JJ Redick also revealed that he didn't get a great explanation on why Thiero was ejected.
Sure enough, it will be interesting to see how the NBA responds to the controversy surrounding the ejection.
The Lakers still lead the series against the Rockets 3-1 despite the loss, having won the first three games.
