It wouldn't be a stretch to call Lindsay Lohan the voice of multiple generations.
The actress' long-standing career has transcended decades, from 1998's The Parent Trap to 2004's Mean Girls, meaning Lohan, who is turning 40 this week, has made an impact on millennials and Gen Z alike.
"I think it's an honored feeling, and I think it comes from just living my life in the public eye for soĀ long and always trying to be the most honest I can be," Lohan tells PEOPLE in a recent interview of how she feels about being called the voice of a generation.

She continues, "So yeah, I think with that comes pressure always, when I was younger to try and be a certain way, but I think over time and in life you realize you can only be true to yourself, and that has to show through in the end."
"So I feel honored, I guess I would say, in a lotĀ of ways."
Lohan is now partnering with Chime to use that voice to celebrate the youngest millennials turning 30 this year ā and get their financial status in check. In one of the campaign's spots, Lohan tells the youngest members of her generation to "glow up" financially and "get in loser, we're about to have our best era yet," referencing an iconic Mean Girls line, "Get in loser, we're going shopping."

The rest of the campaign is filled with other callbacks to Lohan's movies that have stood the test of time ā from saying "don't get a fright," as her character did in The Parent Trap, to telling listeners not to be a "total drama queen" about change, like her Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen character.
"I felt like it's a generational moment right now, and it felt like it was fun to celebrate," Lohan says of what inspired her to join the campaign. "We were able to have fun with it. And whenever I see campaigns where I can have a lot of fun and poke fun or make people laugh, I always jump at thoseĀ opportunities because we need more of that in the world."

On July 2, Lohan will celebrate her 40th birthday, and she's feeling "great" and "proud" to be in a position where she can be a source of inspiration.
"I'm proud to say I'm going to be 40, and I'm of the millennial generation. And I'm just always evolving, always learning," she says.
