Lisa Jakub reflected on working with Pierce Brosnan during a Mrs. Doubtfire mini reunion panel in Los Angeles on May 29

In the 1993 movie, Jakub starred as Lydia Hillard, the eldest daughter of Miranda Hillard (played by Sally Field), while Brosnan played Miranda's new boyfriend, Stu Dunmeyer

Jakub recalled that Brosnan once "kissed the top of my head, and I swear to God I have a screenshot, and every Christmas I swear I'm going to send that out as my Christmas card"

Lisa Jakub looked back on a "really sweet" moment with Pierce Brosnan.

Jakub, 47, joined her Mrs. Doubtfire costars Mara Wilson and Matthew Lawrence and reflected on their memories making the film at a reunion panel at Burbank Marriott Airport in Los Angeles on Friday, May 29.

The actress — starred as Lydia Hillard, the eldest daughter of Miranda Hillard (played by Sally Field) — recalled that she and Wilson, 38, had a mini reunion with Brosnan, 73, about seven or eight years ago.

"I hadn't seen him at least very often since we filmed and it was so nice to be able to hang out with him as adults and he just seemed really proud of us that we had grown up in this kind of awkward stepdad kind of way, which was really sweet," Jakub said during the panel.

She added, "We did a little video together, and he kissed the top of my head, and I swear to God I have a screenshot, and every Christmas I swear I'm going to send that out as my Christmas card. My husband does not love that joke, but I really have too much attraction for that photo of Pierce kissing the top of my head."

Wilson pointed out that Brosnan was "really funny."

"He's got that sort of dry Irish wit," she explained. "I remember my whole family cheering when we found out he was going to be [James] Bond because we loved him. I don't know if you guys say this, but I still say that James Bond is my stepfather. I tell people that. Yeah, he was great. He would do just silly little jokes with us too and very swab and very handsome, but not afraid to be goofy too. We had such a great time with him."

In 1993's Mrs. Doubtfire — led by Robin Williams as the titular character — Brosnan starred opposite of Field, 79, as her character's new boyfriend, Stu Dunmeyer.

"I really never worked with Robin Williams," Brosnan told Vanity Fairin April 2025. "I only worked with Mrs. Doubtfire."

"I mean, the very first day that I was on set up in San Francisco. They said, 'Do you want to meet Robin?' I said, 'Yeah, I'd love to meet him,' " Brosnan said. "And I went into the makeup trailer, and Robin was sitting there in a Hawaiian shirt — and his kind of haired arms hanging out and his hairy legs — but had the head of Mrs. Doubtfire."

Brosnan then said that Williams "jumped all over the place" and teased him with the Mrs. Doubtfire accent.

"There's reams of footage of me just kind of falling around on the floor with laughter, and he went really blue," said Brosnan, calling Williams "such a kind-hearted man" and adding, "He really was quite colorful, because the children weren't there, and it was just Robin and myself, and he knew he had me in the crosshairs with his humor. I loved the man."

Williams, who died by suicide at age 63 in 2014, had been open about his mental health struggles and addiction — and always tried to lend a caring ear to his costars.

Jakub said that Williams "talked to me because obviously I was honest with him and he and I talked a lot about my issues with anxiety and depression and he shared a lot about his struggles in life too."

"And it was really the first time that someone was so completely open and teaching me to not feel ashamed of these things," she continued, "and that there was help that I could get and there was support that I could get and I didn't have to feel like a messed up weirdo because of what I was struggling with."

During another encounter that Jakub had with Williams, she had been told not to return to her high school as the teachers were having trouble with adapting to her schedule as a child actor.

She said, "I was very upset about this. Being kicked out of school when you're fourteen years old is a little bit upsetting."

"Robin was the kind of person that if he saw that any one of us was upset or not okay, he would check on us. He asked me what was wrong," Jakub shared. "I explained what had happened and he wrote a letter to my principal, which I still have. It was an incredibly kind, lovely letter saying, 'Lisa is just trying to pursue her career and get her education at the same time, so can you please support her in that?' "

Even though Williams wrote the letter to Jakub's school, and the principal framed it in his office, the then-teenager was still not allowed to return to her high school.

"However, that story is not about the fact that it didn't work," she said about Williams' kindness. "It's a story about how kind Robin was. It's a story about the fact that Robin saw some kid he was working with who he did not have to take the time to care about, and he wrote this unbelievable letter. And he really kind of went out of his way for me, which he did for all of us in various ways. And we all had different kinds of connections with him. And he went through the trouble to connect with us as individuals. I can tell you it did not happen on every set."
