LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil will deliver a "league update" at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of what could be its final tournament.
The breakaway league's season will conclude earlier than scheduled at Chatham Hills in Indianapolis this week after LIV finally confirmed the cancellation of its Team Championship finale, which was due to be held in Plymouth, Michigan, at the end of the month.
LIV needs a huge cash injection to survive after the withdrawal of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), and O'Neil announced two weeks ago that terms for a rescue package had been agreed in principle with an unnamed "lead investor.” The prospective investor has since been identified as the British private equity firm BC Partners.
• Jon Rahm could face stricter penalties than Brooks Koepka to return to PGA Tour
• Scottie Scheffler loses nearly half of $3.6M prize money from FedEx St Jude win
The tectonic plates of pro golf have shifted dramatically since, and O’Neil is sure to face some probing questions from reporters in Indianapolis at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
Jon Rahm, the league's biggest asset not named Bryson DeChambeau, is on the brink of quitting, according to The Telegraph. The two-time major champion walking away could spell LIV’s demise, with BC Partners’ deal said to be conditional on the league retaining top talent.

The growing uncertainty about Rahm’s future followed the DP World Tour striking a hammer blow to LIV's plans for 2027 after the European circuit changed its stance on players competing across both tours.

The DP World Tour granted conditional releases this year to nine LIV members, including Rahm, allowing them to play LIV events without being fined.
However, Mirror U.S. Sports understands that releases are highly unlikely to be granted for 2027, primarily due to LIV’s plan to award a majority of equity to its players as part of a post-PIF restructure.
DP World Tour sources say that the equity arrangement, which would give players a direct financial interest in a rival tour, would transform the dynamic.
LIV had been banking on its members to fill their calendar with events on other tours. The breakaway league is proposing a 10-event season in 2027, which is well short of a comprehensive schedule.
The DP World Tour’s shift follows the Asian Tour abruptly ending its association with LIV to sign an alliance with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
Without offering players the opportunity to build out their schedule with tournaments on other circuits, LIV faces an uphill battle to convince players to stay.
The questions facing O’Neil are mounting. Whether he has the answers remains to be seen.
