Millie Bobby Brown hopes to share the makeup wisdom she learned as a child with her daughter someday
The actress reminisced on her childhood experience with makeup, and that she felt free to experiment and have fun
Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi welcomed their first daughter via adoption in the summer of 2025
Millie Bobby Brown has some beauty wisdom to impart!
In her 10-minute beauty routine for Allure, shared on Wednesday, July 1, the Enola Holmes 3 actress — and new mother! — revealed the valuable lesson she hopes to share with her daughter when she's older. Brown and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, announced in August 2025 that they had welcomed their daughter via adoption.
One of Brown's valued experiences in her youth was being able to play around with makeup freely, without feeling pressure to look a certain way and still be a kid while exploring makeup's possibilities.

"It wasn't about looking good. It was about feeling like I was having fun," Brown recalled. "And it was about me."
"I was never forced to wear makeup as a child. And for me, it was just an area of self-expression," she continued. "That's how I've landed where I am today, because I feel like now I just have a really good idea of what self-expression looks like."

Even though sometimes she looks back on the makeup looks of her childhood with bewilderment, those moments seem not only inevitable but special. Brown reminisced on the times she used to look through her mother's old photos, giggling at her hairstyles or glittery eyelids, the way she now does with her own.

Brown is looking forward to having similar moments with her own daughter, and through them, to teach her that an unorthodox look is great as long as she's having fun.
"I think it'll be really cool for my daughter to take a look back at those moments for me, and for me to explain, 'Oh, that was me accepting this award,' or 'That was me doing this,' and to be able to say I was 11 and I was experimenting with makeup," she said. "I was still having a really good time."
"I just only can hope that she mirrors that same level of fun and playfulness and to not let anyone dim her light," Brown added.

On Aug. 21, 2025, Brown and Bongiovi shared that they had adopted their "sweet baby girl" that summer, and expressed excitement for the journey ahead as parents. "And then there were 3," they wrote in a joint post on Instagram.
Bongiovi and Brown were first linked in 2021 when he posted a snap with the actress, and the pair were "friends for a bit" before they started dating the following year. The couple later wed in a secret ceremony in May 2024.
