Tens of thousands of soccer fans will flood to Atlanta this summer, and many will be reliant on the city's public transportation during their stay.
Transportation officials have been working on updates to MARTA and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to prepare, not only to the benefit of visitors but also those that call Atlanta home.
Now, a new service from MARTA is set to launch this weekend, and it will offer on-demand transit.
What is MARTA Reach?
MARTA Reach, part of the NextGen Bus Network, will launch on Saturday, March 7 in 12 zones in MARTA's service area.
The service will offer "point-to-point shared rides and easy connections to bus routes and rail lines," according to MARTA.
MARTA Reach will operate 18 hours a day, seven days a week, and will extend past the first and last mile connections, offering "curb-to-curb" service to get around neighborhoods where the MARTA line may not reach.

The rides can be requested through the MARTA app or over the phone, and all vans are ADA accessible equipped for wheelchairs, scooters or other mobility devices.
Where are MARTA Reach zones?
"MARTA Reach on-demand service will operate in 12 defined zones across MARTA's transit system where customers will be able to take trips from point A to B anywhere in the zone," according to MARTA. "In select zones, customers will be able to connect to and from other MARTA services outside of the zone."
Here are the MARTA Reach zones:
301 — West Atlanta
302 — Kirkwood/Candler Park
303 — County Line
304 — Lakewood
305 — Oakley Industrial
306 — Fulton Industrial
