Warning: This post contains spoilers for the series finale of Power Book IV: Force.

The series finale of Power Book IV: Force, the Power spinoff chronicling Tommy Egan's (Joseph Sikora) efforts to be Chicago's drug kingpin, premiered on Jan. 16

Sikora tells PEOPLE about the "bittersweet" end to the series, breaks down the surprise cameo in the episode and teases what's next for Tommy

"As long as Gary Lennon is writing Tommy, I'd love to keep playing him," Sikora says

Tommy Egan's story has come to an end — at least for now.

On Friday, Jan. 16, the series finale of Power Book IV: Force premiered, wrapping up the Power spinoff series that followed Tommy (Joseph Sikora) as he moved to Chicago and worked to dominate the drug game in the Windy City.

The finale episode picked up after the death of Diamond (Isaac Keys), which heightened the tension between Jenard (Kris D. Lofton) and Tommy, who were already at odds. A surprise arrival from Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) helped Tommy win the war for kingpin status, as Jenard's team abandoned him to side with Tommy instead.

But not all of Tommy's enemies were taken care of: Vic Flynn (Shane Harper), who had gone into hiding, was drawn back into the fray after learning of Diamond's death and teamed up with Jenard. The two vowed to bring Tommy down together, while Tommy contemplated a move to New York City to team up with Tariq.

It's "bittersweet" to say goodbye to Force, Sikora, 49, tells PEOPLE. "I wish there was a fourth season, because I feel like we really got our footing [with season 3]. But who knows, maybe there'll be something in the future," he says. "I remain cautiously optimistic of another chapter of Tommy."

The series wraps up with what seems to be a clear set-up for just that — Tariq seems to convince Tommy to move to New York and team up with him — and Sikora is not shutting down that theory.

"Whether it's filmed or not, I think that it's the next chapter," he says, adding that he hopes to make a show alongside Rainey, 25, about their fan-favorite characters "But if [not], I think that is, at least in our minds, that's the next chapter."

"Like I always say, as long as Gary Lennon is writing Tommy, I'd love to keep playing him," he adds.

Sikora knows fans will be "super excited" to see Rainey, 25, back onscreen, more than a year after he said goodbye in the Power Book II: Ghost finale. (At the time, Rainey told PEOPLE he "would love to see Tariq back on the screen," and teased, "Our universe never ends.")

"Michael's a wonderful actor," Sikora says of Rainey, who has played Tariq St. Patrick, the son of Tommy's best friend, Ghost (Omari Hardwick), since Power. "He's really taking control of the Tariq character and has added this gravitas to the next chapter of him."

Admittedly, Sikora had one other theory about who could be on the other end of Tommy's phone call.

"My only other thing was, 'Hey, is there any way that Ghost is still alive?'" he says. "I know that Courtney said no, but we didn't see a funeral, really, and we didn't see the body. So I was wondering, I was like, 'Could that be the call?'"

"But I just feel like the combination of Tariq and Tommy — it was the right call to make," he says.

Regardless of whether or not a spinoff is in the cards, Force is not the last time fans will see the character Sikora originated in 2014. Power: Origins, which was greenlit in March 2024, will explore Tommy and Ghost's younger life, and Sikora says the series feels "like a fun evolution to Raising Kanan, because that show's such a great show."

"I'm glad they cast somebody better looking than me for me," he quips of Charlie Mann, who was cast to play young Tommy alongside Spence Moore II, who will play young Ghost. "I was like, 'As long as it's an improvement, I'll take it.'"

"But Tommy's a tough character, Tommy's an interestingly calibrated character, so I can't wait to see what Charlie does with him," Sikora adds. "Pete Chapman, who's the producing director on Origins, is a friend, so he's been keeping me kind of abreast a little bit of what's happening, and it sounds really exciting. I can't wait to see the show."

The series finale of Power Book IV: Force is now streaming on Starz.
