Brigitte Bardot, legendary French screen siren, model and animal rights activist has died at the age of 91.
Her death was announced on Sunday, Dec. 28 by Bruno Jacquelin of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Protection of Animals, who confirmed in a statement to the that the 1960s sex symbol died while at her home in southern France.

Bardot starred as the titular character in this 1959 French comedy directed by Christian-Jaque, which follows a young country girl who unexpectedly gets caught up in a secret military mission.
#4: Viva Maria!
Starring alongside Jeanne Moreau in this 1967 historical comedy-drama, Bardot earned a BAFTA Film Award nomination for Best Foreign Actress.
#3: The Truth(La Vérité)
In 1960, Bardot appeared in Henri-Georges Clouzot's The Truth (La Vérité), in which she plays a woman who is on trial for the death of her lover. The role earned her a David di Donatello Award for Best Foreign Actress in 1961.
#2: Contempt(Le Mépris)
Bardot played the role of Camille Javal in this 1963 film directed by Jean-Luc Godard, which was based on the novel of the same name by Alberto Moravia.

#1: And God Created Woman(Et Dieu… créa la femme)
In her breakout role, Bardot starred in Roger Vadim's And God Created Woman, (Et Dieu… créa la femme) in 1956, skyrocketing her to fame and defining her as an international sex symbol.
