Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Crystal Kung Minkoff revealed details of a severe, fairly recent health scare she endured and the diagnosis that followed.

Speaking to former Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her co-host Cynthia Bailey during the latest episode of their podcast “Humble Brag With Crystal and Cynthia,” Minkoff said she almost suffered a stroke, and her EKG revealed a slight cardiac enlargement.

Minkoff noted, “I was late to come here because I was at my doctor’s. My blood pressure was really high this week. … I think it was 160/110 [mmHg]. And I was like, OK, so we’re, we’re kind of in the realm of stroke now,” adding, “They call it the silent killer.”

(An ideal blood pressure for most adults is lower than 120/80 mmHg.)

The reality star stated that her physician recently checked her blood pressure when she complained about “a constant pressure on [her] chest” and found her heart rate to be unusually low. She recalled her doctor telling her, “That pressure is your heart working too hard.”

Minkoff, 43, had an EKG done immediately. She said her medication had to be doubled after the test revealed the underlying issue, i.e., a mildly enlarged heart.

According to her doctor, “80% [of the condition] is definitely hereditary, but the 20% are all the little adjustments” that can help her.

In addition to regularly taking her medication, Minkoff has been asked to lift weights as much as possible and spend five days or five hours doing cardio every week.

Minkoff’s condition has caused her trouble in the past.

While shooting a January 2024 episode of RHOBH in Barcelona, Spain, she was rushed to the hospital and put on intravenous therapy due to severe motion sickness and bulging veins caused by a blood pressure of 177/108 mmHg.

“My family history has a history of high blood pressure [and] hypertension, and it’s something that I know that I’ve struggled with, but I didn’t realize it could get to this point,” Minkoff later noted in a confessional interview.

“It was so scary, and although my dad had always told me the signs to watch out for a stroke, some people can’t come back,” she said. “I’ve never been faced with my mortality.”
