Rory Culkin Reveals the One Piece of Advice He Got from Famous Older Brothers Macaulay and Kieran (Exclusive)

Rory Culkin caught up with PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of his new Apple TV series Nocturne on Oct. 20

He revealed the one piece of advice he got from his famous older brothers, Macaulay and Kieran Culkin

All three siblings began their acting careers when they were children

Rory Culkin says he received some simple advice from his famous older brothers, Macaulay and Kieran, about acting.

Rory, 37, caught up with PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of his new Apple TV series Nocturne on Tuesday, Oct. 20. He revealed that he and his brothers “don’t really talk about work and even fatherhood.”

Macaulay, 46, and Kieran, 44, did give him one piece of advice, however.

“Their advice was like, ‘You’ll figure it out. Everyone does, you know? So, you know, just don’t worry,’ ” Rory shared.

All three brothers began their acting careers as children. Macaulay rose to fame for starring as precocious Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone movies in the early 1990s. (Kieran also appeared in the films as Kevin’s cousin Fuller McCallister.)

Rory made his film debut in 1994’s Richie Rich, playing a younger version of Macaulay’s titular character.

Macaulay, Kieran and Rory, along with brothers Christian Culkin, 50, and Shane Culkin, 48, all worked together for the first time in episode 6 of the Prime Video animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy in February 2024.

The five brothers — whose parents are Kit Culkin and Patricia Brentrup — also have a sister, Quinn Culkin, 41, and a half-sister, Jennifer Adamson, 56. Their sister Dakota “Cody” Culkin died at age 29 after she was struck by a car while crossing the street in Los Angeles in 2008.

At Tuesday’s Nocturne premiere, Rory also opened up to PEOPLE about becoming a dad. He and partner Kate Arizmendi welcomed a baby girl, named Havoc Moon, on May 23.

Rory said his fatherhood experience has been “lovely” so far. “Really such a pleasure,” he added. “Everyone was telling me how difficult it is, and it is, but that’s outweighed so much by the love.”

He said being a dad has made him more conscious of the weight of time.

“Having a child introduces you to time, and now everything just feels a little heavier. I mean, when I have to say goodbye to her, I get choked up on the train,” he continued, explaining, “There’s just more gravity now, you know?”

Rory recently shared how he’s reclaimed a certain “throne” in his large family since welcoming his first child.

“I was always kind of mad because I’ve always been the youngest Culkin — until they started having kids,” he told Entertainment Tonight this month. “But now I have the youngest Culkin, so I reclaim the throne.”

Nocturne premieres on Oct. 30 on Apple TV.
