Ross Chastain will return to JR Motorsports for select NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series races during the 2027 season. The organization announced on October 20 that Chastain will once again compete in the No. 9 Chevrolet, continuing a successful partnership that began in 2025. His exact schedule has not yet been announced, although the team confirmed he will make multiple starts.

Chastain has enjoyed considerable success with JR Motorsports throughout the 2026 season, competing in five races for the organization. The Trackhouse Racing driver captured a rain-shortened victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, marking his first series victory since 2019. He also secured the pole position at Dover Motor Speedway and recorded additional top-five finishes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Iowa Speedway.

The 33-year-old will once again share the No. 9 Chevrolet with fellow NASCAR Cup Series competitor Shane van Gisbergen. The New Zealand native also enjoyed a successful 2026 campaign with JR Motorsports, capturing victories at Circuit of the Americas and Sonoma Raceway. Together, Chastain and van Gisbergen combined for three victories in eight starts with the organization this season.

JR Motorsports has also confirmed that Tristan McKee will compete in select races behind the wheel of the No. 9 Chevrolet next season. The reigning ARCA Menards Series East champion is expected to begin his part-time schedule at Bristol Motor Speedway in August. Meanwhile, Carson Kvapil will move to the No. 8 Chevrolet, while Sam Mayer returns to the organization to drive the No. 1 entry.

Chastain will continue competing full time for Trackhouse Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series while making additional starts for JR Motorsports. The organization has not announced which tracks he will compete at or how many races he will enter. However, the extension provides Chastain with another opportunity to pursue victories in NASCAR's second-tier division during the 2027 season.
