Scarlett Johansson Debuts Her Shortest, Brightest Hair in 4 Years

Scarlett Johansson attended a screening of Paper Tiger at New York Film Festival.

The actress debuted a tousled, textured bob tossed to one side of her face for the occasion.

She also wore a minimalist gray minidress and strappy heels.

Scarlett Johansson just debuted a major hair switch up. Appearing on the red carpet at a screening of Paper Tiger during the opening night of the New York Film Festival, the actress looked fresh for fall with a new bright blonde tousled bob. She wore the new chin-length crop in a super deep side part and textured, piecey waves.

Meanwhile, she opted for a simple, minimalist wide-neck gray wool minidress, paired with strappy metallic silver heels and a pale pink Prada purse. She added a bit of color with a poppy red lipstick and accessorized with dangly diamond earrings and a few silver rings.

After the screening, Johansson appeared on stage. “I’m hallucinating,” she joked, explaining that she had just taken a long haul international flight, per Variety. “It’s 5 in the morning—which is a great time to be doing an interview on stage.”

This marks Johansson’s shortest IRL haircut in four years—back in 2022, she also rocked another blunt bob. Although she debuted a lob earlier this summer, it appears to be shorter and brighter than ever. Before that, however, she was sporting long waves in a darker blonde hue.

Of course, that’s not to say she hasn’t briefly experimented with shorter styles in the meantime. Back in May, she was spotted on the set of Paper Tiger in New York rocking a retro ‘80s-coded curly bob. She was seen with the same hair in June. Just last month, however, she was spotted on another set with a very different look: XXL waist-grazing straight hair for The Exorcist.

Johansson is no stranger to a dramatic chop. Back in 2014, the actress debuted a bold pixie cut with buzzed sides—and had no regrets. “I think I just got tired of wearing a ponytail all the time,” she said of her new look to Refinery29. “I [was] always stuffing it under a wig, so I just cut it off. Everybody kept saying, ‘Don’t cut your hair! You might hate it!’ But, then I thought, ‘Why am I letting other people tell me what to do?’”
