The 2026 Actor Awards—formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards—have started.
As we near the tail end of award season, which kicked off in early January with the Critics Choice Awards and will wrap with the Academy Awards on March 15th, the Actor Awards served as the penultimate event of its kind for film and television. Setting itself apart from the others, the Actor Awards were created—in the words of SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin—“exclusively by actors and for actors.”
Leading the nominations, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another found itself in seven categories, recognized for the overall performance by its cast as well as the individual work of its leading stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti, and its supporting actors Teyana Taylor and Sean Penn.
The casts of Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, and Sinners joined the dark comedy in the top motion picture category, Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Song Sung Blue, Bugonia, Blue Moon, and If I Had Legs I’d Kick You were also well represented, thanks to their leads Kate Hudson, Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, Ethan Hawke, and Rose Byrne, respectively.Elsewhere, Ariana Grande was nominated for Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role as Glinda in Wicked: For Good. On the television side, the comedy and drama series lineups were both stacked, with The Studio, Adolescence, and The White Lotus earning top nominations.
