Taylor Swift had a specific vision in mind when it came to the setting for her “Patient Zero” music video — and this piece of Beverly Hills real estate certainly hit the mark.
The pop megastar, 36, debuted the official video at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Sept. 27. It stars Swift, Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell in a thrilling yet tragic love story about a toxic ex.
While the video certainly included a star-studded cast, another key player was the massive Brutalist-style mansion that served as Johnson and Farrell’s home throughout the story.
“The house was a metaphor for the coldness of a relationship that’s faded and atrophied,” Swift, who also served as director, wrote in an Instagram post following the video’s premiere.

In real life, the home is a sprawling five-bedroom, nine-bathroom abode spread out across 18,344 square feet of space.
The estate was designed by acclaimed design firm the ID Group. According to property records, it was recently sold in June 2026 for $46.95 million, with Aaron Kirman of Christie’s International Real Estate SoCal and the Aaron Kirman Group previously holding the listing.
Eagle-eyed fans will likely recognize the retractable glass wall in the main living room, where the video’s three stars posed like statues in one scene. In front of them were the property’s infinity-edge pool and sweeping city views.

The home is also centered around a circular motor court, giving the interior a unique shape that’s on display when Johnson holds onto the stone wall for support once her character begins to feel unwell.

Throughout the video, viewers see Farrell appear as Swift’s toxic ex while the 14-time Grammy winner tells the story of her own relationship’s downfall. Meanwhile, Johnson’s character simultaneously has the same experience.
Swift and Johnson mirror each other throughout, from their outfits to their actions, as the doomed love story progresses.

In the same Instagram caption, Swift revealed that the video incorporates many literary themes that she loves “so much.” The plot appears to be inspired by Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca, which Swift previously cited as a favorite during a 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“With the Patient Zero video, I got to explore the cinematic and literary genres I love so much. I wanted to incorporate elements of gothic ghost stories, true crime, psychological thrillers all in a setting I hadn’t really shot in much,” she explained in the caption.
