Will Ospreay’s first AEW World Championship reign began with a victory over one of his biggest influences, but what happened after the bell carried just as much meaning.
Following their main event at AEW: All In London, Ospreay made sure Kenny Omega knew exactly what the match and his career meant to him.
The Aerial Assassin captured the title at Wembley Stadium after a grueling encounter, but the championship celebration quickly became something more personal.

Ospreay took to X after the event and shared a photo of Omega alongside a simple message that summed up his feelings: “There will never be another Kenny Omega.”
The tribute followed an emotional moment between the two competitors in the ring. Ospreay helped Omega to his feet after their match, and the former champion initially struggled to lift the AEW World Championship belt. Ospreay eventually set the title aside before embracing his longtime idol and rival.
The two then acknowledged the Wembley crowd together, with Ospreay raising Omega’s hand before eventually leaving with the championship. AEW later released footage of the post-match moment, giving fans a closer look at the exchange.

Ospreay also kept one of Omega’s side plates on the AEW World Championship as a tribute. The decision added another personal touch to a night that already represented a major milestone for the new champion.
Their match carried significant stakes, with Ospreay earning his championship opportunity by winning the 2026 Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup. Omega entered the contest as the reigning champion after defeating MJF at Beach Break.
The match also featured a notable moment when Ospreay kicked out of Omega’s One Winged Angel before eventually winning after another Hidden Blade.
Omega later acknowledged the changing of the guard on social media, posting a photo of his My Hero Academia-inspired gear with the message, “The rest is up to you, Will.”
Ospreay now begins his first AEW World Championship reign, while Omega’s place in the story remains clear. The student may have taken the title, but he made sure the teacher received his flowers first.
