The Wireless Festival has officially been canceled after Kanye “Ye” West was banned from entering the United Kingdom to headline the event.
“As a result of the Home Office banning YE from entering the United Kingdom, Wireless Festival has been forced to cancel,” the festival announced on Instagram Tuesday, April 7. “All ticket holders will recieve an automatic full refund.”
The festival was originally set to take place from July 10 to July 12 in London, with the rapper headlining all three nights.
In an extended statement to the BBC, the Wireless Festival added, "As with every Wireless Festival, multiple stakeholders were consulted in advance of booking YE and no concerns were highlighted at the time."

"Antisemitism in all its forms is abhorrent, and we recognize the real and personal impact these issues have had. As YE said today, he acknowledges that words alone are not enough, and in spite of this still hopes to be given the opportunity to begin a conversation with the Jewish community in the U.K," the event continued.
West, 48, was previously named the festival’s headliner, prompting mixed reactions.

On Monday, April 6, Pepsi pulled out as a sponsor of the event. “Pepsi has decided to withdraw its sponsorship of Wireless Festival,” a Pepsi spokesperson told PEOPLE at the time.
The British Home Office previously told the BBC the rapper made an application to travel to the U.K. on April 6 via an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The interior ministry said that it refused permission on the grounds that his presence would not be conducive to the public good.

Melvin Benn, the managing director of Festival Republic, which promotes the Wireless Festival, previously told The Guardian that West “intended to come in and perform.” He added that the festival was “not giving him a platform to extol opinion of whatever nature, only to perform the songs that are currently played on the radio stations in our country and the streaming platforms in our country and listened to and enjoyed by millions.”
West has been plagued by controversy in recent years following his public antisemitic comments.
A spokesperson for Campaign Against Antisemitism praised the government’s decision, adding in a statement to the BBC, "Someone who has boasted of making tens of millions of dollars from selling swastika T-shirts and who released a song called ‘Heil Hitler’ just months ago clearly would not be conducive to the public good in the U.K.”
